Praetoria is a land of strong kings and long memories. Centuries of war ended with the Treaty of Gazlas, under which the royal and high-noble children of the member kingdoms are schooled together at the castle academy of Gazlas — the theory being that it is hard to declare war on your old classmates. A great dark forest fills the south-centre; the Falkiri Highlands rise in the north-west; a yellow desert band crosses the north.
Bureau advice: Travellers who enter the great dark forest rarely come back with directions. The Bureau does not organise excursions there.

The largest and most powerful kingdom on the continent: great armies, fertile lands, and a strong say in the running of Gazlas.
The oldest kingdom, which gave the continent its name. Well respected, populous — and said to have the weakest king.
A remote coastal kingdom whose towns ring a fertile bay beneath steep mountains. It keeps to itself, treaty or no treaty.
A long western seaboard of ports, fisheries and salt pans. Its ships range widely; a good place to find onward passage.
High, cold country and home of the Hawkmen, who glide from the cliffs on wingsuits. Falkiri stands outside the treaty and receives few guests.
