Jabor
Jabor (the whole continent)
Sealed by a magical barrier since 2388. Do not attempt to cross it. Do not accept passage from smugglers.
Jabor remains closed to visitors. Travel advisories
Today on Temar
General advice. Stay on the main roads, travel with others, carry a little of each coin, and learn to say hello in the local language. If a goblin offers you a contract, read it twice. If anything offers you a ride across the Jabor barrier, decline politely and walk away.
Jabor (the whole continent)
Sealed by a magical barrier since 2388. Do not attempt to cross it. Do not accept passage from smugglers.
Central Onsa
Highly toxic water about chest deep, and “a wide variety of extremely poisonous and deadly creatures”. The cuttlewyrm, a legless, wingless dragon that breathes poison gas, is the worst of them. Do not drink, wade or picnic.
South of Jabor
Home to the Chihuahua, a monster of terrifying ferocity (level 70). The Bureau does not exaggerate. The Bureau never exaggerates.
Central Onsa
Many monsters, most notably lesser dragonkin. Crossed by a single road, and only by caravans with hundreds of mercenaries. Groups of fewer than 500 are not expected to arrive.
Between Tumaria, Elanaire and the Black Forest
Every tree is a living stone tree, so there is nothing to burn for a campfire. Rock golems (“stone giants”) feed on the tummernuts and resent being disturbed. Ancient curses are reported.
Northern Onsa
Locals call walking north to Kolbar through the jungle “suicide”. Beware the Cardillian Man Trap: vines, thorns, and huge, entrancing flowers. Do not stop to admire them.
Western Onsa
The Bofor are walled in and outsiders are not admitted. The Bofor say: “Dussh norr pass wallmorr” — “Outsiders do not pass the wall.” The four Bofor towns go to war with each other twice a year.
Around Dragon Mountain, Onsa
Dragons tend their herds and pastures and are not remembered attacking outside their own lands. Armies that crossed those lands have regretted it. Shimmer cloaks are said to help.
Onsa
Fatal to dragons that try to swim it, which tells you most of what you need to know about the “great river things” that live in it. Use the ferries.
Northern Onsa
Fosbane is run by its guilds and has been known to conscript travellers into them. Carry proof of onward passage.
North-west Onsa
Known throughout Onsa as the thieves’ city. It is not a nickname.
Western Canbria
All magic has been illegal here since 1370, and the duchies settle their quarrels by fighting each other. Keep your essence to yourself.
Etiquette
Most trouble on Temar starts with a misunderstanding. A few customs worth knowing:
Wherever elves live
Enter only if invited, and only if trusted. Elves remember who harmed them — or harmed a tree.
The mountains
Trolls are very territorial. Passage can be bought, but at a high price. Never light a fire near one.
The plains
Loud, cheerful and happy to wrestle. Just don’t push one too far.
Cardillia, Onsa
Commoners may speak to nobles only in the commons house. Visitors are advised to follow the same rule.
Eazodand, Canbria
Do not speak to them unless they speak to you first.
Patana, Onsa
There is a name people in Patana will not say aloud. The Bureau recommends you don’t either.
